J.C.
MacKENZIE - INFO
Raised in Ottawa, Canada, J.C. MacKenzie saw his first play, Bernard
Slade's "A Tribute" starring Jack Lemmon, on Broadway and knew that
he wanted to be involved in acting. His first inclination was to educate
others through drama. He attended Concordia University in Montreal,
where after two years, he was accepted by and attended the London Academy
of Music and Dramatic Art in England. Upon his return to Canada, MacKenzie
decided instead of teaching he would try his hand at acting.
After working steadily in Canadian theater, which included the Shaw
Festival, MacKenzie was selected by Neil Simon to play the role of Carney
in the American National tour of "Biloxi Blues." After the tour he moved
to New York City, where he joined the Circle Rep Company. Shortly after,
MacKenzie starred in the sitcom "Have Faith."
MacKenzie moved to Los Angeles in 1995 to star in "Murder One," where
he played the role of Arnold Spivak for two seasons. Recently, he guest
starred on "The Practice." His feature film credits include "Final,"
"Little Pieces" and "Dutch," as well as appearing in three Spike Lee
films: "He Got Game," "Girl 6" and "Clockers."
In his leisure time, MacKenzie enjoys reading every newspaper he can
get his hands on, as well as playing hockey, skiing and politics. He
resides in New York City, where he is a tried and true New York Mets
fan.
